Factions are the perfect feature for those players who really want to get involved in Skara. But what are factions?

As you know, Skara is inhabited by five races. When you start playing you must choose one of them, create a Shinse, a Durno or a Khärn character and join Fast Battles, play Horde Mode alone or with friends... but the most competitive players will join Factions. Factions are player-created armies or cities that will compete against each other to be the main one. Only the most capable players will gain the opportunity to found their own realm and recruit other players to join his army. Not those who spend more money. Not those who spend more time playing. Only the best.

When a player reaches a high position in the rankings or inside a faction´s hierarchy will receive an invite to create a new Faction. Those Factions will have different names depending of the race. Khärn Factions are known as Tribes, Durno Factions are Realms, and so. As the Faction Founder, the player can name the new clan, design banners and armors, recruit players and command them onto the battlefield. There will be a few Games Modes only available for battles among factions, such as Siege or Kill the King.

FInally, only the best factions will get the opportunity to create and build their own arenas, and defend them against the enemies´ raids. As you can see, in Skara is all about competition, and you need SKILLS to survive.

This sounds awesome! It really gives players something to strive for. To be the best and to create their own factions! Love the ability to create banners and designs and armor.

After reading the short description I have three questions:

1. If I get to create a faction am I automatically the leader? If I am do I have to be around to lead my faction into battle? If not who will them in my stead?

2. Will I be able to lay out challenges to other factions? For example if I found out a friend has created a faction and I want to destroy....I mean fight them in honorable combat will I have the option to challenge them?

3. When we earn the right to create our own arenas how customizable will they be? Will it just be land customization like terraforming or will be able to manipulate everything to our will to make the most challenging arena ever?

Of course you will, Faction Battles will be the cornerstone of Skara. Challenge other factions, conquer their territories and defend yours against the enemie´s raids will be crucial to the success of your clan.

Well, too soon to say, we are still working on the Arena Editor. We would love to give a complex SDK with total freedom to manipulate everything, but the main problem with this system is that causes a lot of bugs and glitches.

Inner rebellions would be awesome! If you were 2nd in rank and you reach the highest rank inside the faction, enable the option to propose a fight for the leadership: 1vs1, and if not accepted in X days -> rebels VS loyals!!
So you can not became leader and go sleep for weeks.

Strategies like join in two faction to reach each leaderships and merge them in a big single faction, or even secession fights would be great!


BTW: races -> factions -> ¿clans? I've seen you named clans and I'm not sure where to place them.

Forget about the clans, I use the "clan" word to name the factions, but it will depend of the race (Tamvaasa Factions will be named Clans). There will be Races and Factions inside the races. That´s all.

By the way, love your idea about rebellions inside the factions!! We will implement something similar for sure.

This all sounds very exciting Pablo! The rebellion idea is a great idea you should incorporate as Mario said it would make player continually come back to play else they'll lose their leadership.
